SUMMARY:Collapsed Distance: Pistol and Rifle in Close Quarters
DESCRIPTION:Register here: Collapsed Distance: Pistol and Rifle in Close Quarters\nCollapsed Distance: Pistol and Rifle in Close Quarters is a performance-driven training experience built for fights that happen at bad distances and in tight spaces. Taught by Craig Douglas of ShivWorks and Jeff Gonzales\, this course blends entangled\, close-quarters pistol problem-solving with extreme close-range rifle application. This course balances duty pistol work at entangled distance and extreme close-quarters rifle application. Both live in the same space where time is short\, distance is bad\, and decisions matter more than drills. Students will learn to manage space\, access and control their weapons under pressure\, and deliver accountable hits when posture\, balance\, and distance are working against them. The focus is not on drills\, but on decisions and execution that hold up when things get compressed and messy. If you want training that goes beyond square-range comfort and prepares you for real close-range problems\, this course delivers. \nCraig’s work is built around what actually happens at contact distance. He focuses on access to the weapon\, retention\, managing an opponent in your space\, and solving the problem when shooting looks nothing like a square-range exercise. The emphasis is on recognizing the problem early\, making the right decision\, and executing mechanics that still work when you’re crowded\, off-balance\, or tied up. \nI’ll take those same performance standards and apply them to the rifle at close and transitional distances. The rifle can solve hard problems fast\, but only if you can manage space\, control the gun\, and keep accountability when things are compressed and moving. This block focuses on running the rifle where most people avoid training with it: tight spaces\, awkward positions\, and distances where timing and discipline matter more than speed. \nTogether\, this course is about performance that transfers. Not drills for their own sake. Not theory. It’s about building skills that hold up when distance collapses\, plans fall apart\, and you still have to solve the problem with the tool in your hands. \nDuty Pistol Extreme Close Quarters\nMost gunfights don’t start at clean distances with time to think. They start close. Sometimes inside arm’s reach. When that happens\, the problem is no longer “shooting.” It’s access to the weapon\, control of space\, and staying functional while someone is trying to stop you. \nCraig Douglas’s ShivWorks curriculum is built around that reality. His work focuses on entangled and close-quarters pistol problems—where perception\, decision-making\, and timing matter as much as mechanics\, and where many range-trained solutions fail. \nIn this block\, students will work on the core problems that show up in real close-range encounters\, including: \n\nRecognizing close-range threat cues and problem states\nAccessing the pistol under pressure and in contact\nRetention and entangled shooting positions\nManaging an opponent inside your workspace\nSolving weapon-based problems when posture\, balance\, and distance are compromised\n\nThis is not a beginner class. Students are expected to be safe\, competent gun handlers with solid fundamentals. The focus here is not marksmanship for its own sake. The focus is problem-solving at bad distances—where the sequence is perception\, decision\, then execution\, and where the cost of getting it wrong is high. \nThe training is designed around what actually fails in real encounters and how to build responses that hold up under pressure. Each block is aimed at producing usable behavior\, not just good reps on the range. \nInstructor Bio\nCraig Douglas (a.k.a. “SouthNarc”) is the founder and lead instructor of ShivWorks\, a defensive training organization built around solving violent\, close-range problems that traditional range drills don’t address. He retired from law enforcement after 21 years of service\, much of it in narcotics and SWAT\, where he encountered violent\, unpredictable contact-distance interactions firsthand. Since 2003\, Craig has taught worldwide; throughout nearly all 50 U.S. states\, in multiple foreign countries\, and to federal\, state\, and local agencies as well as military units on entangled shooting\, close quarters engagement\, and functional self-defense. His curriculum emphasizes problem recognition\, realistic solutions\, and functional skill transfer. Craig’s work is grounded in real experience and built to prepare students for encounters when space collapses and decisions must be effective. \n\nExtreme Close-Range Rifle\nRifles solve problems fast; but close to people\, walls\, and obstacles\, they also create problems fast. Most shooters never learn to run a rifle where space is tight\, positions are compromised\, and timing matters more than comfort. \nThis block focuses on extreme close-quarters and transitional-distance rifle work. The goal is not to look dynamic. The goal is to stay in control of the gun\, manage space\, and deliver accountable hits when the environment is working against you. \nStudents will work on: \n\nManaging the rifle in tight spaces and crowded angles\nShooting from compromised and non-standard positions\nMaintaining muzzle discipline and positional control under movement\nSolving close-range and transitional distance problems with the rifle\nKeeping performance standards when balance\, posture\, and timing are degraded\n\nThis is performance-driven pistol and rifle training. Each block is built around specific behaviors\, clear outcomes\, and feedback that protects rep quality. The focus is on what you need to see\, decide\, and do—and when—so the rifle remains an asset instead of a liability in close quarters. \n\nRequired Gear\n\n\nAR15/M4 rifle/carbine\nAdjustable rifle sling\nRed dot sight or low powered variable optic\nDuty pistol\n250 rounds of factory rifle ammunition\n250 rounds of factory pistol ammunition\n3 x rifle magazines minimum\n3 x pistol magazines\nRange uniform: long pants\, comfortable shirt\, athletic shoes and ball cap\nBasic loadout: rigid belt\, quality holster\, magazine pouches and dump pouch (optional)\nWrap around ballistic eye protection\nHearing protection\nWater\, snacks\, sunscreen and appropriate inclement weather clothing\nFirearms cleaning kit and quality lubrication\nNotebook and pencil\nOpen mind

SUMMARY:Everyday Carry: Cold Performance Meets Dynamic Shooting
DESCRIPTION:Register here: Everyday Carry: Cold Performance Meets Dynamic Shooting\nSimon Golob and I are teaming up to bring you a focused\, performance-driven training experience built for real-world concealed carry. Simon will lead students through the principles of cold\, on-demand performance\, emphasizing technical excellence\, accountability\, and the ability to deliver precise hits without warm-up—because that’s how defensive shootings actually happen. Students will be tested\, measured\, and coached to raise their baseline performance under realistic pressure. \nI’ll build on that foundation by taking those standards into motion. My block focuses on drawing from concealment while moving\, managing space\, creating angles\, and making accurate hits on the move. You’ll work forward\, rearward\, and lateral movement\, shoot from compromised positions\, and learn to keep control of the gun and the muzzle while your feet are doing real work. The goal is to make sure your performance doesn’t fall apart the moment you have to move to solve a problem. \nTogether\, we’re delivering Everyday Carry: Cold Performance Meets Fighting While Moving—a course that bridges measured\, accountable shooting performance with the realities of dynamic\, real-world defensive problems. From the draw to the last shot\, this training is about making reliable hits when you’re not warmed up\, not standing still\, and not on your terms. \nOn-Demand Performance (Pistol)\nMost shooters perform their best only after they’ve had time to warm up. In the real world\, that luxury doesn’t exist. Defensive shootings—whether for law enforcement or armed citizens—demand cold performance: the ability to deliver accurate\, accountable hits on demand\, with no rehearsal and no do-overs. \nOn-Demand Performance (Pistol) is Pistol-Training.com’s flagship course\, designed to build exactly that skill set. This class focuses equally on technical excellence and the ability to perform on demand\, under realistic conditions. You will be tested to establish your current performance level\, and the training will be tailored to help you raise your baseline—not just your “good day” performance. \nIn this one-day version of the course\, Simon Golob will cover the core concepts and practices needed to build reliable\, repeatable shooting performance\, including: \n\nBuilding and maintaining technical shooting standards\nUnderstanding and improving cold performance\nMeasuring performance with objective tests\nIdentifying individual performance gaps and fixing them\nHitting low-probability targets efficiently and on demand\nManaging pressure without relying on artificial warm-ups\n\nThis is not a beginner class. Students must already have solid gun handling and marksmanship fundamentals. At a minimum\, students must be able to draw and re-holster safely and must pass a pre-test of five shots on a 3×5 card at 5 yards\, with no time limit. \nIf students cannot meet these safety and accuracy requirements at the start of the course\, they will not be allowed to continue in live-fire training. \nStudents will also have the opportunity to test for the FAST coin or FAST pin. \nThis course is ideal for the shooter who already has the fundamentals of marksmanship\, but wants to become faster\, more efficient\, and more accountable at hitting difficult targets—without relying on warm-up reps to get there. \nInstructor Bio:\nSimon Golob (SLG) is a retired law enforcement officer who began his career with the NYPD in 1998 and later entered federal law enforcement after September 11th\, supporting the Global War on Terror. Over his career\, he served as a patrol officer\, investigator\, firearms instructor\, assaulter\, and sniper\, deploying multiple times to Africa and the Middle East\, including four tours between Afghanistan and Iraq\, with experience in tactical operations\, protective missions\, and instruction. While serving on a full-time federal tactical team\, he developed a detachment-wide firearms and CQB program and trained with numerous law enforcement and military special operations units as well as leading private training schools. SLG’s primary focus is performance-oriented concealed carry\, and he was instrumental in the development of the modern AIWB holster and its derivatives. An accomplished competitor\, he has placed highly at national matches\, including 1st at Steel Nationals and back-to-back 3rd place finishes at the Bianchi Cup\, and has won multiple rifle and 2-gun competitions. \nSimon can be reached through his website at Pistol Training.com \nDynamic Shooting from Concealed\nMost range training happens from a static position: feet planted\, stable stance\, clean sight picture. Real defensive encounters don’t work that way. In the real world\, standing still creates risk\, and movement is often what buys you time\, angles\, and space to solve the problem. \nDynamic Shooting from Concealed is a handgun course focused on building the ability to draw\, move\, and make accurate hits at realistic defensive distances. The emphasis is on making movement support your shooting—rather than degrade it—by learning how to manage balance\, footwork\, and muzzle control under pressure. \nIn this class\, students will work on the practical skills needed to fight with a concealed handgun while in motion\, including: \n\nDrawing from concealment while moving\nForward\, rearward\, and lateral movement\nShooting from compromised or uneven positions\nManaging space and creating angles\nMaintaining awareness while engaging targets\nKeeping control and accountability while your feet are moving\n\nTraining is built around real-world defensive problems. Threats do not wait for you to get set\, square up\, or plant your feet. You may need to move to access cover\, create an angle\, or break contact—and you still need to make accountable hits while doing it. \nThis is not a beginner class. Students should already have solid handgun fundamentals and be safe\, competent gun handlers. The focus is not on teaching basic marksmanship\, but on applying existing skills under movement and pressure. \nThis course is performance-driven. The emphasis is on control\, accountability\, and effective hits while in motion—making sure your shooting holds up when the problem requires you to move\, not stand still. \nRequired Gear \n\n\nCarry pistol\, 9mm\n1000 rounds of training ammunition\n5 x pistol magazines\nRange attire: long pants\, comfortable shirt\, athletic shoes and ball cap\nBasic loadout: rigid belt\, quality holster\, magazine pouches and dump pouch (optional)\nWrap around ballistic eye protection\nHearing protection\nWater\, snacks\, sunscreen and appropriate inclement weather clothing\nFirearms cleaning kit and quality lubrication\nNotebook and pencil\nOpen mind\n\n*Students are welcome to use RDS equipped pistols\, but must ensure they are properly zeroed. Recommended zero distance is 25 yards for optimal performance\, but regardless students must know their impacts at ranges from 0-25 yards.
