Fighting From Concealed Course Description:

The Fighting from Concealed (FFC) course is a basic one-day course on the dynamics of close quarters combatives. In this fighting course, students learn some of the basics to integrated combatives. Drills will focus on in-fight gun access and close quarters problems while flow drills will focus on empty hand and edged weapons deployment. Subjects include drawing & shooting from various positions, aggressive movement on contact, attackers in-fight gun control, contact & near contact shots, weapon strikes and weapon retention techniques. A major objective is creating time and distance to access various weapons while defending against common attacks and weapon takeaways. Supporting objectives include shooting from different positions in the drawstroke, fighting & recovering from the ground with a weapon, defensive positions, weapon access from various positions, knife deployment and strikes.

Fighting From Concealed Gear List:

  • Defensive pistol (rendered safe), blue gun, airsoft pistol or SIRT pistol
  • Range attire: long pants, comfortable shirt, athletic shoes, and ball cap
  • Basic loadout: rigid belt, in the waistband (IWB) holster
  • Groin protector and mouthpiece (optional)
  • Handheld flashlight
  • Wrap around ballistic eye protection
  • Hearing protection
  • Water, snacks, sunscreen, and appropriate inclement weather clothing
  • Notebook and pencil
  • Open mind

Fighting From Concealed Prerequisites:

Basic Concealed Carry or similar. The below drills are suggested as minimum skill requirements to meet the prerequisites. All drills are shot using primary carry firearm, but do not have to be performed from concealed. The recommended target is the TRICON TCT-MK4 available from Action Target or an official NRA B8 repair center.

  • TRICON Pistol Standards Alpha: at the 10 yard line, draw and fire 10 rounds (9 reload 1) in 15 seconds. Must be below par and score 70/100 points or higher.
  • TRICON Pistol Standards Delta: at the 5 yard line draw and fire 1 round in 2.5 seconds. Repeat firing 2 rounds, then 3 rounds, 4 rounds and finish with 5 rounds. Must be below par on each stage and score 105/150 or higher.
  • TRICON Pistol Standards Golf: at the 5 yard line, draw and fire 5 rounds in 5.0 seconds. Repeat for a total of 5 repetitions. Must be below par on each stage and score 105/150 or higher.

Defensive Carry Demonstration
Everyday carry in everyday clothing

The Defensive Carry 2 (202) is an intermediate 2-day course on the fundamentals of everyday carry. In this intermediate carry course, students learn the essential skills for concealing and drawing a pistol under a variety of environmental and logistical considerations. Close range shooting will focus on quickly defeating the cover garment for fast shots on target. Stand off range shooting will focus on accuracy under time pressure. Subjects include concealed carry methods, drawstroke techniques, hand position, defeat methodology, supporting equipment and defensive mindset. A major objective for Defensive Carry 2 is the ability to defeat any cover garment then deliver quick and effective shots to stop a deadly force threat. Supporting objectives include movement, choosing cover garments, verbal commands, ammunition management and strong hand only.

Gear & Equipment:

  • Defensive pistol, 9mm (red dot sight optional*)
  • 1,000 rounds of practice ammunition
  • 25 rounds of defense ammunition
  • 5 x pistol magazines minimum (8 for single stacks)
  • 5 x inert training rounds
  • Training uniform required:
    • Polo or T-shirt
    • Button-down shirt
    • Jacket or coat
    • Sweater or hoodie
  • Concealed carry gear
    • Sturdy belt
    • Inside the Waistband (IWB) holster
    • Outside the Waistband (OWB) holster
    • Single and or double magazine pouch
  • Handheld flashlight with pocket clip
  • Clear/tinted ballistic wrap around eye protection
  • Hearing protection
  • Cleaning kit and lubrication
  • Notebook and pencil

*Students are welcome to use RDS equipped pistols, but must ensure they are properly zeroed. Recommended zero distance is 25 yards for optimal performance, but regardless students must know their impacts at ranges from 0-25 yards. 

Coures Prerequisites:

  • TRICON “Bravo” Drill: at the 10 yard line, fire 9 rounds reload and fire 1 round in 15 seconds. Must be below par and score 70/100 or higher.
  • TRICON “Oscar” drill: start at the 25 yard line, draw and fire 5 rounds in 60 seconds. Move to the 15 yard line, draw and fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds. Move to the 10 yard line, draw and fire 5 rounds in 10 seconds. Must be below par at each stage and score 105/150 or higher.

Concealed Carry Instructor Course Description:

The Concealed Carry Instructor (310) is an instructor level 3-day course for concealed carry instructors and practitioners. In this instructor level course, candidates will learn best practices for safely teaching concealed carry beginner to intermediate level students. The course comprises two parts, instructor development and instructor teach back. Candidates begin by learning safe linear progressions from open carry to concealed carry with a minimum passing grade of 80%. Subjects include gear selection, concealment principles, defeat methodology, drawstroke progressions drawstroke progressions, defensive mindset and risk mitigation. Upon successful completion of the instructor development, instructors will advance to the instructor teach back. Candidates will be assigned teach back material for both classroom and range evolutions as lead and assistant instructors. Candidates will be judged on their subject matter expertise, podium presence, delivery methodology, corrective strategies and time management. Those meeting the performance standards will graduate and be officially recognized as TRICON Concealed Carry Instructors.

Basic Instructor Course Gear:

  • Defensive pistol, 9mm recommended
  • 1,500 rounds of factory ammunition
  • 50 rounds of defense ammunition
  • 5 x pistol magazines minimum (8 for single stacks)
  • 5 x inert training rounds
  • Training uniform; must have the following:
    • Polo
    • T-shirt
    • Button-down shirt
    • Jacket or coat
    • Sweater or hoodie
  • Concealed carry gear
    • Rigid belt
    • IWB holster
    • OWB holster
    • Single and or double magazine pouch
  • Handheld flashlight with pocket clip
  • Clear/tinted ballistic wrap around eye protection
  • Hearing protection
  • Notebook & pen/pencil
  • Weapons cleaning kit and quality lubrication
  • Hydration system and energy snacks

Concealed Carry Instructor Course Prerequisites:

  • Currently possess a state issued license to carry card (private citizens only, law enforcement are exempt)
  • Currently possess Instructor Certification, for example (Department/Unit Level Certification, NRA/USCCA Instructor Certification and state recognized associations)
  • Have completed and documented at least 40 hours of general firearms training from a recognized instructor/school on the subject such as Concealed Carry 2
  • Successfully pass with an 80% or better the skills entrance test (delivered after registration)

Course Description:

Basic Carry (102) is a two-day beginner level pistol course that will teach you how to discreetly wear defensive handguns and supporting equipment. The Basic Carry class begins with an in-depth presentation on common handguns, holsters and belts used for carrying concealed. Self-defense ammunition selection and annual ammunition allocations are also covered in depth. From there, the range session begins with a firearm safety brief, basic firearms operations drills and handgun proficiency demonstration. You will be taught the four-count draw stroke technique starting from open carry and progressing to concealed carry as safety allows. Various dry fire and live fire drills will help you safely handle and shoot your handguns from concealed carry. We will also cover off-body storage of firearms & ammunition to prevent unauthorized access and accidents due to negligent firearms handling. Finally, we will discuss deadly force considerations, legal defense and post-shooting scenarios.

Course Prerequisites:

The below drills are suggested as minimum skill requirements to meet the prerequisites for this course. All drills are shot using primary carry pistol from the holster (unless otherwise specified) in an open carry condition. The recommended target is the TRICON TCT-MK4 available from Action Target or TRICON B8 target.

  • TRICON “Kilo” Drill: at the 10 yard line aimed in on the target fire 1 round. Then from the ready, fire 4 rounds. Then from the ready, fire 3 rounds one handed. From the holster, draw and fire 2 rounds. Par time for each stage is 5 seconds and must score 80/100 or higher.
  • TRICON “Delta 2”: at the 10 yard line from the ready position fire 1 round in 3.5 seconds. Repeat for 10 repetitions total. Must be below par and score 80/100 or higher.
  • TRICON “Foxtrot 2”: at the 5 yard from the ready position fire 2 rounds in 5 seconds. Repeat at the 10, 15, 20 & 25 yard line. Must be below par at each stage and score 80/100 or higher.
