Course Description:

Defensive Carry 2 is Trident Concepts’ advanced concealed carry program, built from decades of operational experience, instructor development, performance analysis, and legally defensible practices. This intensive two-day, 1,000-round course is designed for experienced armed citizens committed to developing the highest level of concealed carry performance under demanding conditions.
The course emphasizes efficient deployment from concealment, measurable performance standards, accountable speed, emotional control, movement, and precision from close quarters to 25 yards. Students will learn to deliver accurate fire at the highest speed their skill supports while applying efficient concealment techniques, sound decision-making, and disciplined execution under pressure.
Every block of instruction follows the Trident Concepts ATPT methodology—Assess, Train, Perform, Test. Students first assess their current capability, train to improve specific performance deficiencies, perform under progressively more demanding concealed carry problems, and ultimately test their skills against objective standards. This deliberate progression ensures every repetition has purpose and every improvement is measurable.
Upon completion, students will leave with measurable performance gains, clearly defined standards for continued development, and a deeper understanding of what effective concealed carry performance demands.
Students Will Train and Be Evaluated On
- Delivering accountable hits at the highest speed their skill supports from concealment.
- Applying measurable performance standards throughout every stage of instruction.
- Maintaining emotional control and disciplined execution under increasing time pressure and cognitive demand.
- Building efficient visual processing to support shot accountability, recoil management, and rapid target transitions.
- Developing predictable concealed-carry gun handling, including garment management, presentation, reloads, and malfunction management, with an emphasis on economy of motion.
- Integrating movement, positional shooting, and balance while preserving accuracy and accountability.
- Solving progressively complex defensive shooting problems involving multiple threats, changing distances, movement, and the effective use of cover.
- Demonstrating precision from close quarters to 25 yards by adapting cadence and visual patience to the demands of the target and environment.
- Applying sound judgment and legally defensible practices throughout concealed-carry performance.
Throughout the course, instructors employ the Trident Concepts ATPT methodology using a deliberate practice model to drive measurable improvement. Drills are conducted in short, focused iterations with immediate coaching, allowing students to apply one primary correction before repeating the task. Each instructional block concludes with objective testing and a concise performance review to determine what improved, what still requires refinement, and how those lessons transfer to future concealed-carry performance.
Who This Course Is For
Defensive Carry 2 is designed for experienced concealed carriers who already possess solid handgun fundamentals and want demanding, standards-based training focused on measurable improvement under pressure.
This course is a strong fit for:
- Armed citizens who carry a concealed handgun as part of their everyday life
- Licensed and constitutional carriers seeking higher levels of performance
- Armed professionals who regularly carry concealed
- Shooters with prior formal training who are ready to move beyond basic technique
- Students who want objective standards, direct diagnostics, and meaningful accountability
- Shooters who want to develop greater speed from concealment without sacrificing hit quality
- Students who want to improve emotional control, movement, and decision-making under increasing pressure
- Anyone who wants to identify what limits their concealed-carry performance and train those deficiencies deliberately
This is not a beginner course. Students will be expected to safely and competently draw from concealment, manage the pistol, shoot while moving, work from varied positions, and use cover. The focus is on delivering accountable hits at the highest speed the shooter can support while maintaining sound judgment, disciplined execution, and repeatable performance under demanding concealed-carry conditions.
Gear & Equipment:
- Defensive pistol, 9mm (red dot sight optional*)

Course Prerequisites:
Defensive Carry 2 is intended for experienced concealed carriers and is not an introductory handgun course.
Students should possess the ability to:
- Safely draw from concealment, return the pistol to the holster, and manage the cover garment while maintaining consistent trigger finger discipline.
- Consistently achieve an efficient, repeatable firing grip from concealment while effectively managing the cover garment.
- Demonstrate safe reloads and malfunction clearances
- Maintain acceptable accuracy at typical defensive handgun distances
- Safely move with a drawn pistol and work around cover
- Follow range commands in a dynamic training environment
Successful completion of a reputable intermediate-level pistol or concealed carry course is strongly recommended. Students should expect a physically and mentally demanding training experience.
The following drills represent the minimum performance standard expected for entry into Defensive Carry 2. Students are strongly encouraged to become familiar with these drills and consistently meet the listed standards prior to attending the course. All drills are shot from concealment unless otherwise specified. The recommended target is the TRICON TCT-MK4 available from Action Target or TRICON B8 target.
- Pistol Standard Alpha 2: at the 10 yard line, fire 9 rounds reload and fire 1 round in 15 seconds. Must be below par and score 70/100 or higher.
- Pistol Standard Bravo 2: at the 25 yard line, fire 10 rounds in 30 seconds. Must be below par and score 70/100 or higher.
- Pistol Standard Sierra 4: at the 5 yard line, draw and fire 6 rounds center mass, reload and fire 2 more rounds center mass, then 2 headshots in 15 seconds. Must be below par and score 70/100 or higher.

What a great class ! Jeff creates a safe and fun environment to push his students out of their comfort zone to get better, smarter, more accurate and competent. He has a way of focusing on the specific needs of each student and identifying ways to remediate deficiencies in weapons systems, technique, and mindset. I sometimes felt like I was the only student in his class.
There are many aspects that made this class awesome but it all came down to mastering the basics of marksmanship, and challenging growth by introducing more difficult scenarios based on time, distance and target.

This is a fantastic and humbling class. Jeff and Hank run a professional class and range that builds you up using a linear progression model. Even with 13 years in law enforcement I found myself learning with every module we covered. If you carry concealed I can’t recommend this class enough.

Tactical Carry 2 is an EXCELLENT class! Tons of great information and even better feedback from Jeff.
You will learn more about your carry system and skill level in this two day class than you could learn in years on your own. Absolutely worth the investment to go to class! I’m looking forward to the next chance I get to learn from Jeff!
