Course Description:The Tactical Pistol 2 (201) is a 2-day intermediate pistol course designed to equip the modern gunfighter with shooting skills necessary for close range defensive settings. In this intermediate pistol course, students learn the essential pistol skills from 0 to 25 yards. Close range shooting will focus on speed, while distance shooting will focus on accuracy. Students regularly face challenging drills under pressure to evaluate knowledge and application. Subjects covered include combat marksmanship, holster drawstroke, gun handling and multiple threats. A major class objective for Tactical Pistol 2 is a rapid drawstroke to deliver accurate fire at close ranges, measured against time and accuracy standards. Additional subjects include shooter diagnostics, movement, strong hand only and ammunition management.
*Students are welcome to use RDS equipped pistols, but must ensure they are properly zeroed. Recommended zero distance is 25 yards for optimal performance, but regardless students must know their impacts at ranges from 0-25 yards.
Basic Pistol 1 or similar. The below drills are suggested as minimum skill requirements to meet the prerequisites. Shot all drills drawing from the holster. The recommended target is the TRICON TCT-MK4 available from Action Target or TRICON B8 target.

Combative Pistol 2 (CP2) jumps right in and stays pretty intense. Accuracy remains paramount like in his other classes, some drills will tax you from a speed perspective but the accuracy standard never wavers. Lots of holster, 100% OWB, lateral movement and shooting on the move happens in this class (unless the class is overloaded skill-wise, to my recollection).
If you are fairly novice with guns this class might be a little bit like jumping into the deep end of the pool. I’m not saying you can’t handle it, just don’t get frustrated and don’t quit.

I’ve taken CP2 three times and each time I leave with something new to focus on and my marksmanship always shows improvement as a result. The reason for this is how Jeff approaches pistol marksmanship. He will help you break your shot down and build it back up through drills that focus both on accurate shot placement but also speed. By focusing on both elements, you leave CP 2 with a grade (you can’t fix what you can’t measure) and a solid understanding of how fast your can shoot while still remaining accurate. This “throttle control” foundation is really how you begin to build any kind of practice routine for competitions or more complex shooting at night, on the move or in a tactical setting. This is the DEFINITIVE prerequisite course to take before you get into anything more complex. You won’t regret it and I assure you that there is no other pistol course out there at this level that gives you back so much for your dollar.
Jeff Watch –
This was the most demanding class I have attended. You had to perform on command all day long. It was also my first class that had a minimum set of standards to pass. You either met the standards or you did not pass. Jeff is a very knowable guy with a ton of experience, and it shows. He can look at your target and know what you are doing wrong. He is laid back, very friendly, but you will rise to the standard or you will not pass. If you are not making the standard, he works with you in a friendly manner and does not belittle you. Not all instructors are like that. We all had fun in the class, and it pushed each of us to raise our game on each shot. 100% recommend.

Excellent class. Jeff stressed consistency and accuracy in shooting. The focus Jeff placed on 25 yard shooting is designed to flush out your weaknesses in these areas. If you want to get the most out of the class leave the optic home. Go with iron sites. We had two full days of intense drills, however we all managed to keep our humor, with Jeff’s help. This class was challenging and demanding but designed to push you out of your comfort zone. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to test their current ability or learn to improve on the their current skill level.
