Course Description
Close Quarter Battle (CQB) is a five-day small-unit tactics course focused on fighting inside structures against armed adversaries. This is not a fundamentals course. It is built for teams that need to operate in confined spaces where distance is short, time is limited, and mistakes carry immediate consequences.
Training centers on how teams actually move and fight inside buildings. Students learn how to enter, clear, and move through structures while maintaining communication, accountability, and control of the environment. The course addresses the realities of interior combat: limited visibility, complex layouts, multiple threat locations, and the need to identify threats while protecting innocent life.
The program progresses from individual movement and entry concepts to coordinated team operations inside a shoot house and MOUT environment. Skills are built in sequence, then applied under increasing complexity through team-based problems and live-fire validation.
The objective is simple: disciplined movement, clear communication, and reliable performance inside structures where coordination and timing matter.
What You’ll Train
Students will work through structured exercises and scenarios focused on:
- CQB fundamentals and safety inside a shoothouse environment
- Close proximity shooting with rifle and pistol under time pressure
- Breach point identification and entry procedures
- Two- and four-man room clearance techniques
- Multi-room and structure clearance operations
- Hallways, intersections, and stairwell navigation
- Team communication and command and control
- Target identification and discrimination
- Contingencies and problem solving during structure clearance
- Low-light operations and environmental challenges
Training progresses from controlled repetitions to team-based scenarios and live-fire shoothouse operations, ensuring skills hold up under pressure and coordination demands.
Who This Course Is For
Close Quarter Battle is designed for personnel who may be required to operate inside structures as part of a coordinated team.
This course is appropriate for:
- Military and law enforcement personnel assigned to direct action or high-risk operations
- Tactical teams responsible for structure clearance and close proximity engagements
